Big changes! Sarah Kate will be starting preschool twice a week just a few days before autumn officially begins. She met her teacher, the school’s director and the director’s 3-year-old granddaughter a little over a week ago and had a great time. The school is on Queen Anne hill. She’s still on the waiting list for the Co-op here in Magnolia, but she won’t get in here until at least *next* fall.
This will give SKA much-needed (and desired) peer interaction as well as time for Mommy & Daddy to do ‘big people things’ together, (read: house remodeling, dr’s appts, etc), rather than using the ‘tag-team’ approach. And when the new baby arrives, SKA will already have her school routine in place.
Sarah was able to ride her Radio Flyer tricycle for the first time a couple days ago…her legs are finally long enough to reach the *built-up* pedals! J
Her language skills continue to blossom. Her newest addition is a definitive “Yes!” She’s also begun reciting the alphabet, without missing too many letters. She’s playing ‘pretend’ more, too. I just recently found her ‘having dinner’ with Pooh on the rug in her room. And while those are undeniably positive, she’s also been increasingly whiney, even downright crabby when things don’t go her way. Most of the time she is still a friendly, smiling, easy-going, sensitive darling.
We still need to work on eliminating the ‘binky’, but considering that she doesn’t really have or use any other self-soother (blankie, thumb, etc.), and with a reminder, she’ll take it out of her mouth when she speaks, we haven’t been pushing it.
