Getting through the airports with babies & luggage was a challenge as were the long travel days, but we all enjoyed the visit to Michigan, (Heather, Harmony, Dan, Sarah Kate & Elli). SKA was thrilled to see all the airplanes at the airports & got a charge out of both take-off & landing (the ones she was awake for, at least). We got personalized tours of Royal Oak from GrandDan & GrUnBurr, ate BBQ’d burgers on the screen porch over the lake & had gut-buster burgers from White Castle at Harmony’s request. (She saw Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle & had to know what it was all about.)
SKA enjoyed her first-ever carousel ride at Greenfield Village, enthusiastically bouncing on the saddle & grinning from start to finish. She even gave her horse a hug before she got off! She was quite excited about the real horses, too. She had a great time playing in the lake at Grammy & PopPop’s house. Her kicks are getting stronger all the time, she puts her face in the water on her own sometimes & has learned to blow her whistle, so swimming lessons this month should be even more fun & successful than the ones in June. As you can see from the pics, she also had fun playing on Grammy & PopPop’s piano with GrandDan, (who admitted to practicing on the same keyboard decades ago).
Cousin Jorah made everyone bracelets & was a gracious hostess, sharing her room & Burr & Maryl’s attention with us. The only missing elements were Jim & Nathan – missed by all.
Other news: SKA officially has 3 teeth now & the 4th will break through any day. Uncle Mark & Aunt Marilynn will meet SKA in person tomorrow on their trip up from CA.
