BIG day!

One of those major toddler milestones has been reached.  Sarah Kate peed in her potty for the first time on Monday, January 16, 19 mos/1 week.

We’ve had a potty seat since the end of September, ‘around the house’ for SKA to become familiar with it, but ‘we’ have been practicing seriously for about 3 weeks; she got “Once Upon a Potty” DVD for Xmas.  Most of her practice has been imitating Mommy or Daddy by sitting on her potty with her clothes on, although recently Mommy’s begun to ask if she wants to sit on the potty between diapers (i.e. pretty random timing).  Usually she only managed to be interested for a couple minutes.  Monday she watched her video repeatedly (5-6 times in succession) – not the 1st time, but she figured something out.  When I asked her if she wanted to sit on her potty as part of her diaper changing routine, she said ‘yes’ and sat patiently (with Mommy & Daddy to entertain her) for 15-20 minutes until something happened.

She was SOOOOO pleased with herself!   She clapped like crazy & insisted that we applaud, too…for at least another 10 minutes.  (We all went to Children’s Museum as a reward - ? – SKA & then Mommy caught a cold there…)

Such a “big” girl we have already!!!!

We’ve had a couple small accidents since Monday; nothing a little Bac-Out couldn’t handle, but Mommy’s prepared – we just had 5 gallons delivered to us this week!  (Better price for the bulk and since we just cancelled our Baby Diaper Service account, we’re sure to use it, if not for diapers now or later, then for pets.)
